Acts of Innocence

Title: Acts of Innocence

Artists: Samantha Hartman & Stephanie Perosa

Statement: We want to learn about and showcase acts of kindness that people have witnessed/experienced at Stetson University. We want to feature how incredible our students are on this campus and emulate some much needed positivity, strength and resolution. We want our artwork to create an environment filled with goodwill, tolerance, pluralism and openness.

Just as cribs are safe spaces for children, our artwork will hopefully serve as that safe and comforting place for viewers. Using the crib materials will serve as a reversion to the innocence, kindness and simplicity of childhood before they are consumed by overwhelming negativity.

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” – Nelson Mandela.
